Poetic Action

While moving around the streets of Monterrey last weekend I saw several instances of short verses painted onto blank walls and signed Accion Poetica, or Poetic Action. I was only able to photograph one of them but I did a little research and found that the works are the product of a guy named Armando Alanis and he has an entire Flickr page with multiple examples of his street art. He explains:

“In México, publishing houses print poetry from five hundred to three thousand units, a painted wall in a busy Monterrey street can be read by three hundred thousand persons a day…”

This one reads (in English): “I am the one that loves you like no one loves me.” At least I think that’s what it says….my Spanish ain’t perfect. Check out his Flickr page for many more examples.
